COLLABORATIONS

AT NATIONAL LEVEL:

  • RANK® (EXPANDER TECH S.L.) LA VALL D´UIXÓ, CASTELLÓ                                                        .

The ISTENER group works closely with Rank® in the research and development of equipment based on organic Rankine cycles (ORC) for the microgeneration of electrical energy from waste heat or renewable sources.

  • CALORYFRIO.COM EL PORTAL SECTORIAL DE LAS INSTALACIONES                                                       .

The ISTENER group works closely with the digital news portal Caloryfrio.com, envolving the sustainable contruction, HVAC systems, renewable energy, refrigeration and domestic hot water systems. This collaboration establishes a conection between  university and bussiness worlds in order to promote the researching and science realised at university along with arouse the society interest for the essential work of research carried out in universities.

  • RESEARCH GROUP OF APPLIED THERMAL ENGINEERING (CREVER), UNIVERSITAT ROVIRA I VIRGILI, TARRAGONA.

The ISTENER research group has cosupervised a doctoral thesis (Dr. Luis Carlos Mendoza Toledo) together with Prof. Alberto Coronas. The investigations have led to several publications in first quartile journals being "Small capacity absorption systems for cooling and power with a scroll expander and ammonia based working fluids" and "Characterization and modeling of a scroll expander with air and ammonia as working fluid "the most recent ones. Prof. Joaquín Navarro Esbrí has participated in the project "Development of New Working Fluids, Components and Configurations for High Performance Absorption Heat Pumps", developed at the URV.

  • INSTITUTE OF SECURITY, RADIOPHYSICS AND ENVIRONMENT (ISIRYM), UNIVERSITAT POLITÈCNICA DE VALÈNCIA.

The ISTENER research group has cosupervised two doctoral theses (Dr. Víctor Milián Sánchez and Dr. Adrián Mota Babiloni) together with Prof. Gumersindo Verdú. The investigations have led to several publications in first quartile journals being "A review of refrigerant R1234ze (E) recent investigations" and "Experimental evaluation of R448A as R404A lower-GWP alternative in refrigeration systems" the most recent ones. Several research stays have been carried out in both institutions, being that of Prof. Joaquín Navarro Esbrí the most recent one, in July 2017.

  • DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED THERMODYNAMICS, UNIVERSIDAT POLITÈCNICA DE VALENCIA (UPV)

In 2016 Prof. Ángel Barragán Cervera carried out a research stay in this department and there collaborated in the development of the software ,
BPFríowhich allows the sizing of refrigeration facilities.

AT INTERNATIONAL LEVEL:

The ISTENER research group has cosupervised two research theses (Dr. Juan Manuel Mendoza Miranda and Dr. Vicente Pérez García) together with Prof. Juan Manuel Belman Flores, from the University of Guanajuato. The investigations have led to several collaborative publications in first quartile scientific journals being "Experimental analysis of R1234 and a drop-in replacement for R134a in a steam compression system" and "A comparison between the modeling of a reciprocating compressor using artificial neural network and physical model" the most recent ones. The research stays of Prof. Juan Manuel Belman Flores in 2016 and those of Dr. Adrián Mota in 2014 are the most recent ones of many carried out. Currently, Prof. Juan Manuel Belman Flores participates in the work team of the scientific project " Development of High Temperature Heat Pump / Organic Rankine Cycle Hybrid System for the utilization of residual and renewable thermal sources" whose PI is Prof. Joaquín Navarro Esbrí.

Dr. Adrián Mota and Bernardo Peris have carried out research stays at the Laboratory of Thermodynamics of the University of Liege in 2015 and 2016, respectively. The article "Internal combustion engines cooling water valorization through invertible HTHP / ORC systems" has been presented at the scientific conference "4th International Symposium Waste heat recovery in industrial processes" held in Kortrijk (Belgium), in collaboration with this center.

Dr. Adrián Mota initiated the collaboration with this center during a research stay carried out between May and July 2016 supervised by Dr. Khodabandeh, and then he worked as a researcher until February 2017 in the project "Low GWP refrigerants” funded by the Swedish government and 6 private companies. The close collaboration has led to the publication of four articles in 2017 in first quartile journals and three articles in international conferences. The researcher Carlos Mateu has completed the master's degree in this center and has done his Master's Final Work supervised by Mazyar Karampour and Dr. Samer Sawalha
